Film Florida, the chief marketing and advocating organization for Florida’s Screen Production Industry, has created two new philanthropic initiatives. Beginning in 2024, Film Florida will hold a food drive at each of its Quarterly Meetings in the Spring, Summer and Fall along with a toy drive at the December Quarterly Meeting.

The Spring, Summer and Fall Quarterly Meetings rotate locations throughout the state. Attendees will bring non-perishable food items and a local member of Film Florida will collect and drop off the food items at a local shelter or food bank. At the December meeting, members will be asked to bring an unwrapped toy. The toys will then be donated to needy organizations in Central Florida, where the December Quarterly Meeting traditionally takes place.

“We are very fortunate to have our health and the means to put food on our family’s tables every day. However, we recognize that not everyone is able to do the same,” said Sandy Lighterman, President of Film Florida. “As an organization, we host meetings throughout the state, which helps local hotels and restaurants since our members travel to our meetings and economically stimulate a local community. Our members want to extend that support to the local community by providing food for those in need. Additionally, not all children are able to receive holiday gifts because of family’s financial hardships. In December we look forward to providing holiday presents to these disadvantaged children and families in need.”

Film Florida members are welcome and encouraged to participate in both the food drives and the toy drive when they attend the Film Florida Quarterly Meetings. The Film Florida Board of Directors Meetings are open to the public so everyone is encouraged to attend and participate.
