Film Florida, the state’s only trade association that represents all sectors of the film, television, production and digital media/tech industry, recently produced a virtual FAM tour in partnership with the Location Managers Guild and the Florida Office of Film and Entertainment. The 57-minute video included 26 individual videos showcasing different areas of Florida. The video also included custom created map interstitials and an originally produced open and close, filmed at Vu Studio in Tampa featuring Florida State Film Commissioner Niki Welge. The entire video can be viewed HERE.

“We are proud to have produced this virtual FAM tour of Florida in partnership with the Location Managers Guild and the Florida Office of Film & Entertainment,” Film Florida President Gail Morgan said. “Many local film commissioners produced original videos to showcase their locations, it truly was a statewide team effort to show Florida’s best asset, which is Florida. For more than a century, film and television production has been part of the fabric of what Florida is and to have this opportunity to show off the diversity, beauty and extensive array of locations was a great opportunity for Film Florida.”

The live stream virtual FAM tour took place January 31, 2023. The event was open to the public with the majority of audience members being location managers and location scouts from around the world. The purpose of the event was to introduce those not familiar with Florida what there is to offer as well as remind those that may have forgotten how diverse the locations are in Florida. JJ Levine and Film Florida Executive Director John Lux served as hosts of the event. Florida State Film Commissioner Niki Welge and Florida-based Location Managers Maria Chavez and Stacey McGillis-Evans were subject matter expert panelists.

“When many people think of Florida they think of beaches, which is obviously a terrific thing to be known for, but our locations are so much more diverse than that,” John Lux, Executive Director of Film Florida noted. “To truly show our entire state, you need to show the entire state and that was the goal of this initiative to surprise people with the wide array of locations and settings that Florida has to offer. I’m proud of the positive, professional, extensive effort that Film Florida showed in this event.”
