Film Florida, the chief marketing and advocating organization for Florida’s Screen Production Industry, has launched Season 7 (S7) of the Film Florida Podcast highlighting the people and stories that make-up the multibillion-dollar industry in Florida. “The people and stories we highlight helped shape the industry in Florida and continue to work towards growing and strengthening the production community in our state,” Sandy Lighterman, President of Film Florida said. “Florida has such a deep history in the screen industry and our goal is to tell these important stories. We aim to continue to help listeners learn more about the history, economic impact, and overall importance that our industry plays in Florida’s past, present and future.”
Episode 1 features actor Tom Nowicki, currently with a major role in “Bad Monkey” on Apple TV+. Episode 2 features Aaron Gilman, CEO, Steamroller Animation. Prior to his current role, Aaron worked in the animation and visual effects departments on such films as “The Matrix Revolutions,” “The Avengers,” “Iron Man 3,” “The Hobbit” franchise, and “Avatar” among others. Both episodes are available for download.
Future guests this season include award-winning singer-songwriter Susan Fox from Casting Workbook, Terry Olson from Fusion Fest Orlando, Joe Chianese from Entertainment Partners. Episodes typically range from 20 to 40 minutes and are available on mobile and/or desktop devices and will be released every other week through May 2025.
“Florida is open for business and telling our stories is an important part of making sure our industry stays strong and relevant in the state. Florida has so many important stories to be told and we don’t want to leave it up to others to tell those stories,” John Lux, Executive Director of Film Florida and host of the podcast said. “Preparing for each interview I learn something new about every person or subject. If people enjoy the podcast half as much as I enjoy the conversations, we’re doing something right. This gives the industry in Florida a platform to learn more than a short article or quick social media post; these are in depth stories about the people and behind-the-scenes history that make up Florida’s screen production industry.”
