Film Florida, the chief professional development organization for Florida’s Screen Production Industry, announced the official launch of its new streaming service today. Film Florida TV will spotlight Florida-based projects from filmmakers across the state.
Film Florida TV is free for viewers and already boasts 200 hours of content. Soon, Film Florida members will have the exclusive opportunity to submit their Florida-based projects to the platform on a quarterly basis.
“The way films are seen by viewers is rapidly changing,” says Matt Wohl, President of Film Florida. “Distribution can be the biggest hurdle when getting your project in front of your intended audience. Whether you’re pursuing distribution or want to share your work, Film Florida TV helps connect your film with viewers.”
The platform was beta-tested in March during the Film Florida TV Student Film Competition, where students were given 10 days to make a Florida-themed short film. The eligible films were the first to be featured on the platform. In addition to nurturing young filmmakers, Film Florida hopes to bring visibility to projects without distribution deals.
“Our goal is to highlight Florida’s unique stories and provide a place for talented filmmakers to showcase their work,” says John Lux, Executive Director of Film Florida.
